Drifting Again, Miss Ludy’s Story

Miss Ludy is a young slave girl whose life is saved by three Haines siblings in the Philadelphia scourge of yellow fever in the late 1700s. She has vowed to help the Haines family throughout their lives. After aiding one of the children, she is forced to become an escaped slave. She lives with the Cherokees and experiences the Trail of Tears. Her gift of “drifting” allows her to watch the Haines family throughout her long life.
